After I quit smoking, my mind was searching for something else to become busy again. Smoking was an activity that kept my brain pseudo-busy, sending false messages stating that smoking is a way to relax and find solutions. Placing a grave face mimic underlining that. Yes, it was a wrong concept, not to mention that my brain became more confused while smoking as I believe I could not judge clear.

Luckily, I realized that smoking is not the best choice for my brain and health, especially for my lungs, so I have decided to quit smoking. I did that overnight, a straightforward decision, without doing that gradually. I thought that by quitting smoking gradually, I would lie to myself, and most probably, I would never be able to do that. After so many years, I now realize that was the best decision I took in my life, connected with my health. It was not easy, and for many days, I was very tempted to start smoking again, but something in my mind, an enormous strength, kept me away from that temptation. The biggest prove that my inner strength was leading my body and my mind was when my father died. My wife, my children, and friends thought that I would start smoking again, but I did not, and if I did not start smoking during those difficult moments of grief and pain, I thought I would not begin to ever again.

There are 17 years since I quit smoking, and I have to be very honest with you and accept that from time to time; I feel like I would enjoying a cigar once again, but then I stop that desire and think that my health is more important. After I took that decision, something good happened to me. After few days of not smoking, I realized that I did not wake up with that bitter taste in my mouth like chewing a boxer glove all night long.

Then, I woke up with a sharpened mind, like I lifted a veil from my brain. I was able to breathe more profoundly and efficiently and had no headache. From a different perspective, I became more energetic, and my body went through some states of restlessness. I felt that I have to consume my energy somewhere, and I was under continuous research of where and how I can use that extra energy which suddenly accumulated. Exercising was an option, but after so many years of relaxing on my couch, it sounds like ”Mission impossible”. It was hard to start all over again, not to mention that I had a very stressful job, and when I got home, the first thought was to eat something and lose myself on the couch with a glass of wine in my hand. Well, I did that for a couple of months, and then one morning, when I watched myself in the mirror, I realized that I gained a lot of weight. I had to do something then I found this website from which kind of inspire me.
